You neglected to mention the most unholy of all aircraft announcements: the credit card offer. Oh yes, yes, now that we're 10,000 feet in the air, now is when I am most likely to sign up for a new credit card. With your free thousand-mile-offer, how can I afford not sign up? What's that, I'm even pre-approved?! Holy Jesus, it's not like irresponsible use of credit has messed up the national economy and screwed over the airline business model. It's not like I get an offer a day in my e-mail. It's nice to know that just by being airborne, I can get credit without an examination of my financial history.
